Barbury Castle

A brisk walk, or a short drive brings you from Rossendale to Barbury Castle, an Iron Age hill fort situated on Barbary Hill, on the north western edge of the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire, England. It is one of several such forts found along the ancient Ridgeway route, and is now managed as a country park by Swindon Borough Council.

It is a local vantage point, which, when the weather is fine, commands a view across to the Cotswolds and the River Severn. It has deep defensive ditches. The Old Ridgeway runs close by and the modern Ridgeway Path crosses through the castle.

Close by is the course for the Barbury Castle International Horse Trials
